What do you love about OT?

Occupational therapy is where science meets soul. In a healthcare world often ruled by rigid protocols, OT dares to be different—it’s creative, compassionate, and deeply human. We don’t just treat symptoms; we see the whole person. We’re part detective, part artist, part coach. We problem-solve with purpose, crafting personalized strategies that empower people to live more independently and joyfully. And the variety? Unmatched. From hospitals to homes, classrooms to community centers, I’ve had the privilege of working with people from all walks of life. No two days are the same—and that’s exactly how I like it.

How did you choose this profession?

Growing up with a parent in the medical field, I was lucky to be immersed in healthcare from an early age. In high school, my mom encouraged me to explore different professions through shadowing—and I quickly gravitated toward rehabilitative roles. When it came time to choose between OT, PT, and SLP, the decision became deeply personal. My grandfather—a famously stubborn and tough man—experienced a stroke. During his recovery, he couldn’t stop talking about his occupational therapist. He adored them. Seeing the connection they built and the progress they made—it sealed the deal. I knew I wanted to be that kind of difference-maker.

Why did you choose to become an OTAC board member?

I joined OTAC leadership because I believe in the power of connection, representation, and advocacy. I’m especially passionate about bridging the gap between academia and clinical practice, creating stronger pathways for collaboration among students, educators, and clinicians. OTAC is more than a professional organization, it’s a launchpad for growth and meaningful change. I’m honored to help shape its statewide presence and ensure every OT practitioner feels like a vital part of our shared future.

What's your favorite thing to do in Colorado?

Be outside! Walk, swim, paddleboard, hike, ski...any excuse to enjoy the beauty of our incredible state.
