Learn more about the legislative process and how to advocate for occupational therapy while having fun networking with fellow OT practitioners and students from around the state!
WHEN: Thursday April 18th 9:00am - 4:30 pm (Optional Happy Hour at a local bar/restaurant will follow from 4:30-6:00)
WHERE: Capitol Hill in Downtown Denver
WHY: The purpose of OTAC's Hill Day is to represent and advocate for OT practice in Colorado with our state legislators. The 2024 Colorado legislature is made up of many new senators and representatives and Hill Day is a great opportunity for us to connect with and educate these legislators about what we do and how we impact the lives of the people we work with.
Itinerary at a Glance (subject to change)
9:30 -10:00 Check-in, name tags and lobbying preparation and organization
10:00-12:00 Optional Capitol Tour/Observe House Committee Meetings
12:00 - 1:00 Lunch with a Legislator (Lunch Provided by OTAC)
1:00 - 4:00 Options for:
- Group Meeting with Legislators
- Capital Tour (limited space)
- Individual Meetings with Legislators
The group meeting is an opportunity for different members of the legislature to talk about their personal journey with public policy, connection to occupational therapy in their personal lives, how we can communicate with them, and what bills they are working on this session.
4:00-4:30: Wrap Up
4:30-6:00: OPTIONAL Happy Hour at a bar/restaurant near the capitol building. (OTAC will purchase appetizers, additional drinks and food responsibility of attendee)

Why is Hill Day attendance limited to members?
- OTAC represents and advocates for the OT profession in Colorado so participants must be OTAC members during Hill Day to be a representative from OTAC on behalf of the OT profession in Colorado during Hill Day activities.
- OTAC membership directly supports the expense of OTAC lobbyists and OTAC's advocacy efforts.
