OTAC Bylaws Committee Update

Posted: September 18, 2018

As part of our ongoing responsibility to the OTAC membership, the bylaws committee has reviewed and updated the OTAC bylaws.

What are the next steps?

The bylaws are now open to the entire OTAC membership for review and comment on the OTAC website. The current bylaws and a link to the new bylaws are located here: https://otac.memberclicks.net/bylaws-3

Please review the Bylaws document and email [email protected] if you have any comments or concerns about the current proposed changes.

At the OTAC Conference and Annual Business Meeting on October 13 the bylaws will be presented to the membership for a final vote for approval.

This is the summary of changes:

  • Added an index with direct links to bylaw articles, sections and some subsections

  • Language

    • Neutral/non-binary pronouns in order to continue to show OT as advocates for inclusion and engagement

    • Uniformity of terminology and titles throughout

    • Grammar and editing

    • Formatting for improved readability

  • Added Technical Corrections clause that will allow for minor corrections to the Bylaws without requiring a vote from the membership (ARTICLE X, Section 1)

  • New roles

    • Removed Newsletter Representative and Fundraising/Public Relations Representative from the representative roles

    • New Roles (ARTICLE VII: BOARD CHAIRS, ASSOCIATION REPRESENTATIVES, Section 1 and Section 2)

      • Board Chair for Communication which encompasses the responsibilities of the Newsletter Representative and the Public Relations portion of the Fundraising/ Public Relations role

      • Board Chair of Fundraising which will support and advance the fundraising efforts of OTAC

      • OT representative function as an OT member at-large, and serve as a communication link between OT/OTR members and the Board

Time to Start Preparing for the 2018 Annual OTAC Conference

Posted: September 5, 2018

As OTAC’s conference committee continues to prepare for the 2018 Annual OTAC Conference, they also encourage you to prepare yourself for this experience!  We look forward to seeing you at the Radisson in Aurora, Colorado on October 12th and 13th. We continue with our “Top 5 to-do” list with #3.

3. Complete a Wardrobe Review:  While there is not set requirement for conference attire, most people dress business casual.  Make sure that you pack a comfortable pair (or two) of shoes that your feet will love from the wee hours of the morning into the evening and that can transition with your outfits from day to night.  Do you have any occupational therapy spirit wear? Make sure you bring it! If not, don’t worry, we will have logo wear and signature centennial t-shirts for sale at the venue. Lastly, plan to bring a little something dressy for our centennial celebration on Friday night!
