Name: Amy Solomon, OTD, MS, OTR/L
What do you love about OT?
OT uses both halves of my brain! It is the perfect blend of art and science and inspires me to be thoughtful as well as creative. I also love the people I have met and the relationships I have developed. How did you choose this profession?
My mother was an occupational therapist, so I grew up well acquainted with the profession. (In fact, I was rudely awakened when I got out into the world and realized that very few knew what OT was!) I recall her explaining things like anatomy (kid-level!) and focusing on skills as we did crafts and other activities. I think it got into my blood! Funny how I look back now and understand how she incorporated OT into daily life! Why did you choose to become an OTAC board member?
Being involved in OTAC as a board member provides an opportunity to support the profession in Colorado and work toward a sustainable practice environment. Being a board member (and simply being involved with OTAC) has added to my professional growth and learning. It is a win-win situation! What's your favorite thing to do in Colorado?
Wander in the high country with my camera. Visit the wine country on the West Slope.
