Conference attendee registration will be accepted at the conference registration table October 15 if space permits. A $10 additional late registration charge applies for OTAC members registering at the conference registration table, and a $20 charge for nonmembers.  Register online to avoid late fees and processing fees.

FOOD
OTAC will host a continental breakfast and box lunch Friday and Saturday.  Attendees and Exhibitors are on their own for dinners.  Contact Keystone Lodge and Spa directly for special dietary needs.

CERTIFICATE OF ATTENDANCE
A certificates of attendance will be available for pickup on Saturd ay between 4:30-5:00 PM.  Certificates will not be mailed.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Keystone is 9,280 ft above sea level. Please be aware of the signs and symptoms of altitude sickness and take sensible steps to avoid illness. Drink lots of water to keep hydrated.

CANCELLATION
In the event of cancellation, 25% of the fee will be retained for administrative purposes. Registration fees will not be refunded for cancellations postmarked after October 1, 2010. Only written cancellations are accepted.

12.5 Contact Hours – Intermediate Level Course
Course Description:
This 2-day workshop provides a practical opportunity for participants to interact with a sensory integrative occupational therapist and a developmental optometrist as they collaborate on the goal of facilitating optimum performance in children with movement and vision issues. Speakers will reveal and clarify some of the mysteries of previously ambiguous performance issues in childhood. Participants will develop a broader net for capturing the subtleties of visual-vestibular behavior by gaining insight into underlying causes.
Hands-on experience will provide ample opportunity for participants to learn how to administer a vision screening examination. Comprehensive treatment protocols, including the Kawar Oculo-Vestibular Protocol, will be shared so that therapists are exposed to a broad range of practical, innovative, sequential vestibular-visual activities and exercises for use with their clients.

Suggested Audience: Occupational Therapists and interested others

This course is offered for 1.25 AOTA CEUs; Evaluation, Intervention, Outcomes
This course is offered for 1.2 ASHA CEUs (Intermediate Level; Related Area)

Objectives: Participants will be able to:
1. Administer a vision screening examination.
2. Refer clients for optometric evaluation effectively using standardized criteria.
3. Demonstrate powerful treatment strategies that utilize the vestibular-oculomotor-cervical triad.
4. Describe the paradigm shift that indicates that functional performance is driven by vision and movement.

Included in the tuition are a vision screening kit, which participants receive and use at the workshop (a $45 value), and a CD containing valuable resources.

Course Description:
This advanced level course will present an overview of the components of praxis with an emphasis on clinical assessment and intervention for practic problems with children.  The impact of various practic problems on functional performance will be highlighted.  A framework for observing, assessing, clinical reasoning, and identifying ideation, motor planning, sequencing, bilateral coordination and projected action sequence problems within a sensory integration treatment model will be presented.  A clinical observation-based assessment will be discussed and used to develop observation skills and clinical reasoning in identifying and treating praxis problems.  Practical intervention strategies using both top-down and bottom-up approaches will be highlighted through videotapes, case studies and lecture formats.

Suggested Audience: OTs, PTs & SLPs

The course is offered for 1.3 AOTA CEUs (Performance Skills, Evaluation, Intervention)

Objectives: Participants will be able to:
1. Describe the underlying neural and sensory mechanisms of the various practic dysfunctions.
2. Observe, assess and differentiate the range of practic dysfunctions from ideation to execution problems.
3. Apply top-down and bottom-up treatment principles appropriately to different problems using clinical reasoning.
4. Identify the ways various praxis problems impact functional performance.
5. Develop strategies and treatment plans for improving performance.
